Dr. Grace Grau

Dr. Grau began her career in healthcare in 1983 as an Emergency Medical Technician while

attending Jackson Memorial School of Nursing graduating in 1986. In 1996, she completed the RN to BSN at the University of Miami, in 2005 she became an ACNP with a MSN degree form the University of Alabama at Huntsville, and in 2015 she obtained the DNP degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her clinical background has taken her across the lifespan from emergency and critical care medicine to home health, behavioral health, cardiology, and academia.  Between 2011 and 2021, Dr. Grau held a dual appointment as NP with UAB Medicine in the structural heart and interventional cardiology division and full-time faculty at UAB SON, where she taught across all programs. A member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses since 1985,  Dr. Grau chartered the AL chapter of NAHN in 2016, served as Director of NAHN and Chair of the Policy & Advocacy committee from 2022-2024 contributing to NAHNs significant advocacy work and led the Climate Change and Health subgrant.  This past Spring, she was elected as President Elect of NAHN, and was appointed as Co-Chair of NAHN's Education Committee.  She currently volunteers as a NP at the Community of Hope Clinic, serves as adjunct Assistant Professor with UAB SON and serves on numerous state and national nursing committees (American Red Cross, the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama, the Alabama State Nurses Association Nominating Committee) and is completing the Health Policy Fellows program at UAB School of Nursing for the 2023-2024 inaugural cohort.
