Dr. Brian Ahn is the President-Elect of the AAPINA and the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona. As an Asian-American Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and
board-certified Nurse Practitioner, he brings personal experience and a deep commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within healthcare. Dr. Ahn has led multiple NIH-funded studies focused on social determinants of health and health equity. In his role as Editor-in-Chief of the Asian/Pacific Island Nursing Journal, he is dedicated to fostering the exchange of knowledge in nursing care for underserved populations. His distinguished scholarship has led to significant clinical practice changes in pain and symptom management for underserved communities. He has advanced nursing science by developing technology-based, non- pharmacological pain interventions, and integrating innovative brain stimulation and imaging technologies into nursing research. With a unique blend of expertise in nursing, medicine, and computer engineering, Dr. Ahn is at the forefront of leveraging artificial intelligence and cutting- edge technologies to enhance home-based interventions and improve patient-centered outcomes for chronically ill and aging populations. He has secured over $11 million in external research funding, including four NIH grants as Principal Investigator, and has published >90 peer-reviewed articles and delivered >110 scientific presentations.
