U.S. Army Colonel (Retired) Bob Gahol

Colonel (Retired) Bob Gahol is the President-Elect of PNAA for 2024-2026. With nearly
40 years of nursing experience and over 23 years of service in the US Army, Colonel
Gahol has held high-level positions such as Commanding Officer, Chief Nursing Officer,
and Senior Healthcare Executive. His career includes extensive humanitarian and
disaster response work in challenging environments. Notably, in 2014, he deployed to
Afghanistan as the highest-ranking Army nurse, overseeing clinical care for US/NATO
service members and advising strategic-level commanders.
Since retiring in 2018, Colonel Gahol has dedicated his time to community and
professional service. He is a faculty and mentor for PNAA’s Leadership Development
Program, and a volunteer instructor with Hawai Nursing Advocates and Mentors, Inc.,
providing free NCLEX review classes for new graduates. His roles also include serving
as Treasurer and Scholarship Committee Chair for the AONL-Hawai Chapter, and as a
board member of the ANA-Hawai Chapter. Additionally, he is an ACHE member.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Colonel Gahol served as a volunteer consultant for
Hawaii’s COVID-19 medical facility for the homeless, significantly influencing advocacy
and policy on multiple levels.
